Welcome to the birthplace of the Original Freezochino.
At the southern tip of Africa some 15 years ago, the Freezochino was born. In this diverse and cosmopolitan melting pot of coffee lovers and cultured café patrons in sunny South Africa, the call for a premium iced coffee, was answered.
Two local entrepreneurs had always questioned why iced coffee was only served as an indulgent, dessert like beverage and not as an every day, cold alternative to its popular hot counterpart. At they set out to formulate a product that captured this vision, absolutely key to the final outcome was its taste profile. It was pivotal to ensure it was naturally flavoured with premium coffee, perfectly balanced sweetness, and would exhibit a milkshake like texture yet without the addition of ice cream or high calorie additives.
The evolution of freezo.
Freezo was initially only intended as a product for the food service industry, where it was quickly adopted and ommanded a cult like following in Europe, the Middle East and Africa being served at high-end cafes, restaurants and eateries.
As demand for the product increased significantly and customer’s need's evolved, production was later moved to the USA to a facility that met the most stringent requirements of our largest food service customers. This immediately presented a new opportunity to offer the product in North America, a market that has never been tapped, until then.
In 2020, at the start of the Covid pandemic as lockdowns ensued and millions were sent home to work, the idea materialized to test the market with a make-at-home freezo product. Consumers across the USA and Canada were delighted to have the ability to make their favourite blended iced coffee beverages at home, at both a lower cost, and higher quality to that which they could purchase at coffee chains across the continent. Iced coffee is a ultural staple in North America, however the only offering until now has been calorie packed, dessert like beverages that are overly sweet, and watered down. That is until freezo came long.
